Born in French Guinea in the Mandingo lands to a Guinean father and a Malian mother, Mory KANTE (1950-2020) grew up surrounded by a dynasty of griots. It is in Bamako, capital of Mali, within the orchestra Super Rail Band, that he launched his spectacular career as a multi-instrumentalist singer. At the avant-garde of what would later be known as world music, the modern griot has enjoyed worldwide success.
