Miriam Makeba

As artistically demanding as she was political, Miriam Makeba (1932-2008), known as Mama Africa (born Zenzile Makeba Qgwashu Nguvama), fought against injustices all her life, especially those of her country’s segregationist regime, throughout the world and through her songs.
